“When Left To Your Own Devices” is a workshop piloted through Ocean Ana Rising’s Outreach Program and is an extension of “A Healing Touch”, a mobile digital art exhibition honoring women survivors of violence and abuse. The 1-Day workshop invites young girls, ages 12-16, to explore the magical union of art and technology. Participants will explore and discuss mobile digital media (specifically iPhones, iPods and iPads) and their potential as viable creative conduits for self expression. They will also utilize devices to create collective works representing shared stories of struggle and perseverance. The goal of the workshop is to encourage an innovative and creative approach to the ever-evolving world of technology–reexamining our everyday “devices” and pushing them in order to attain necessary artistic space and an ongoing outlet for personal expression. Visual works from the workshop will be shared and published to the “A Healing Touch” international gallery on Flickr. The Workshop will be facilitated by mobile digital artist Mia Robinson on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at the L’Eclat De Verre Versailles Gallery (Washington DC) and includes a “Gallery Talk” and tour of art exhibit “A Healing Touch”.
Donations and proceeds from Private reception on August 20th, 2010 will be used to support this workshop. To purchase your tickets today, click here.
